In this installation of the Beachland Blog, we’ll take a look both back and ahead at a couple of summer festivities here on Waterloo.
We’ll begin with some shots of this past Friday’s very special “This Is Cleveland: All The Stuff That I See” at Low Life Gallery, as posted by cleveland.metromix.com:
Next up, we’re going to use the literary technique called ‘foreshadowing’ (ooh!) to get you hip to Wednesday night’s Detroit Cobras show. For almost a decade now, the Cobras have been playing 50s/60s style rock n’ roll slathered with hot sauce, BBQ spice, and served nice and nasty with a dose of bad-girl attitude. The girls will sass, and the boys will swoon. Here’s some footage from an ‘08 tour the Cobras did with punk legends X:
For all you hard-headed ladies and soft-hearted men, the DCs render a lovely ballad named “Weak Spot”:
For all you serious rock enthusiasts, here’s a nice little trailer for the full-length 2006 documentary which detailed a history of Detroit’s rock scene, entitled It Came From Detroit. In this footage, you’ll not only see the Detroit Cobras, but the Dirtbombs, Von Bondies, and of course, some little band called The White Stripes:
Also on Wednesday night’s Detroit Cobras show are Lords of the Highway and Dexter Romweber (of the Flat Duo Jets)
