Saturday Night: Terry Anderson and the Olympic Ass-Kicking Team

Saturday Night: Terry Anderson and the Olympic Ass-Kicking Team

Keep your fingers crossed, Cleveland. The blustery rain of the last few days apparently just split the scene. That hopefully means plenty of good fun and frolic under sunny Lake Erie skies; in turn, the nights will be illuminated by good food and drink, adventure and friendship.  That’s when the Beachland–and the Waterloo district–hope to make its cool contribution to spring.

If you haven’t heard it already, the Waterloo Arts Fest and Arts Collinwood are throwing a benefit/bash tonight, from 6 – 10 pm. Snacks and fun run you $30 solo, $50 per couple.  The proceeds go toward this year’s Waterloo Arts Fest, which takes place on Saturday, June 27th.

After the benefit, the Beachland hosts roots musicians Marcia Ball (whose interview you can hear) and Commander Cody’s ace guitarist Bill Kirchen (here blazin’ up a few Dylan covers). In the Tavern, we’ve got Cleveland’s own Alarm Clocks, the Hi-Risers, and DJ Mr. Fishtruck, spinning vinyl to get the club jumpin’ like a UK Northern Soul party.

Saturday night the Beachland offers a mighty Auburn Records metal show, with the progressive metal of Eternal Legacy, Venomin James, Destructor, and the Suede Brothers.  In the Tavern, Terry Anderson (of the Yayhoos, Georgia Satellites, and other Southern shot n’ a beer poets) and the Olympic Ass-Kicking Team get loose in the Tavern.

Here’s a nice ‘instructional’ video for these boys, coupled with some audio from their upcoming National Champions CD.  So you were looking for a Saturday night party, huh? Here’s the one you’ve been looking for.
