WKYC Channel 3, Cleveland entertainment website, and  92.3’s the Inner Sanctum bring the Beachland Ballroom and Tavern to the wide, wide world of multimedia this Wednesday.  Metromix’s Summer Concert Series continues with a very special early-evening gig with Red Water Rojo, Coffinberry, Carlisha, and Jackson Rohm from 7 – 11 pm.  The show will be recorded (in front of a live studio audience, as they used to say on old 70s sitcoms) for posterity (that means, like, forever and ever) on Channel 3 and might even pop up on  So be careful with those $3 Pabst specials, okay?

Headliner Red Water Rojo’s sound seems to have evolved from the riffier creatures in the 90s alterna-rock jungle: Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots, The Toadies (!), Possum Dixon (?)  and maybe a few other bands whose names might have slipped your mind since their prime, ten-plus years ago.

Country singer Jackson Rohm hails from somewhere between Chatauqua (Ohio), and Nashville, where he’s worked dilligently over the last ten years to perfect his sound and cut a few records.  Though he bears only a slight resemblence to Huey Lewis, Rohm’s bawdily rollicking hit, “Your Wife Is Cheating On Us” shows as much humor as “Workin’ For A Livin'”:

Though Coffinberry live gigs were plentiful during the dawn of Cleveland’s second millenium (sounds grandiose, don’t it?), this four-piece picks and chooses their shows now, while concentrating on albums like their upcoming release this month on Cleveland-based record label Collectible Escalators.  Despite the fewer outings, Coffinberry still bashes out ballsy bar anthems not unlike their spiritual forebears, Archers of Loaf and Superchunk.
