The word on the street–Waterloo, that is–tells us that at least 500 people are expected to attend this Sunday’s very special 1st Annual Rock and Roll BBQ Throwdown.  That’s a lot of ribs, steaks, burgers, corn-on-the-cob, and whatever you can throw on the grill. And if you’re thirsty, a lot of beer and other refreshing beverages served at the Beachland bar.

Here’s a fun entry regarding this very special event as written by cleveland foodie:

As previously posted, Cleveland Food Rocks is throwing the first Rock ‘n’ Roll BBQ throwdown this Sunday at the Beachland Ballroom. An impressive list of our local chefs will be on-hand grilling and mingling from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets are $25 or $30 day of, but chef Steve Schimoler of Crop, who is the brainchild behind this initiative, has generously offered up two free tickets to Cleveland Foodie.

To find out more about this, check out the rest of the foodie’s blog HERECleveland Scene gets Schimoler to cough up some details on this Sunday’s menu.  For information on what the Greenhouse Tavern might be whipping up for the Throwdown, check out their chef’s blog.  Which brings us back ’round again to Guy Fieri, who rolled into Cleveland with his crew and highlighted the Beachland, among other hometown eateries. Here’s his mouthful on the subject, compliments of cleveland.com.

And what goes well with a smouldering barbecue? Some fire-roasted blues from the throat and belly of T-Model Ford, who plays tonight at the Beachland. Here’s footage of him swingin’ hard with “Catfish Blues”, as shot at Cleveland’s very own Euclid Tavern some time ago:

Opening tonight’s show is Church of the Lazy Bastard. For time and ticket information, hit up the Beachland’s website.  Or call the club at 216.383.1124 to get your dirty blues fix.
